Tonight Tbilisi’s famous TV Tower will be illuminated in the colors of Lithuanian flag in order to honor Lithuanian Freedom Defenders' Day. January 13 in Lithuania is a historic day, since it commemorates those killed by the Soviet army in Vilnius in 1991.
On this date Soviet Union tried to overthrow Lithuania’s legitimate government and take over the city’s TV Tower in the aftermath of which 1,000 unarmed Lithuanian civilians were injured and 14 were killed.
In order to express our solidarity and pay respect to the Lithuanian people, Tbilisi’s TV Tower will symbolically light up in yellow, green and red colors from 7pm to 9pm.
In addition a special discussion dedicated to this date will be held by Georgia’s Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili, Vice Speaker Giorgi Baramidze and writer Davit Turashvili at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia at 5pm today. interpressnews.ge
